RUGS
Crafted by highly experienced artisans in Portugal, India, or China, our hand-knotted, hand-woven, or hand-tufted rugs are made on low-warp or high-warp looms, respecting the traditional cultures and craftsmanship.
They are woven, knotted or tufted, using various types of fibers, such as wool – worsted, semi-worsted, felted, Mohair, Alpaca, Cashmere, Ghazni – cotton, linen, jute, silk, viscose, and other technical or recycled fibers, or fibers treated for outdoor use.
With a rich diversity of textures, techniques, reliefs, colors, patterns, materials, shapes, and functions, our range of furniture and rugs comes in a wide variety of sizes and finishes.
This extensive offering allows us to meet the needs of any project, whether for residences, luxury boutiques, yachts, hotels, or even high-end offices.

HAND-KNOTTED RUGS
The craft of hand-knotting rugs in India is an ancient tradition that requires precise and meticulous expertise. This process, which can take several months, depends on the type of rug, its size, and its complexity.
The hand-knotting technique demands exceptional precision. Each rug is a unique piece that reflects centuries of Indian cultural and artistic traditions.
Our rugs are hand-knotted on high-warp looms (vertical looms), with the warp typically made of cotton. The knotting process is long and requires great dexterity.
We use various types of knots, such as the Persian knot, Turkish knot, Tibetan knot, Indo-Nepalese knot, or Quinn Coweave. Each knot is individually tied by wrapping a thread around two warp threads. Depending on the desired quality, the number of knots can vary from 60 to more than 300 knots per square inch.
Once the knotting is complete, the artisans even out the surface of the rug to give it a perfect finish. The surface may also be hand-carved or chiseled, depending on the desired texture effects. The rug is then washed thoroughly to remove all impurities and set the colors, before being dried in the sun.
Our rugs are woven with a variety of yarns, including wool – worsted, semi-worsted, felted, Mohair, Alpaca, Cashmere, Ghazni – cotton, linen, jute, silk, viscose, recycled fibers, or materials adapted for outdoor use.
With cut pile, looped pile, flat, or sheared at varying heights to create texture, whether trimmed or sculpted, our rugs come in a wide range of weaving techniques and finishes. The quality and subtlety of these techniques pay homage to the craftsmanship and traditional Indian know-how.

HAND-TUFTED RUGS
Manufactured in China, a country renowned for its long-standing tradition and exceptional mastery of the hand-tufting technique, our rugs are crafted with respect for this extraordinary know-how.
This traditional method, used in both China and India, involves projecting yarn through a fabric base using a tufting gun. The technique was reinvented and modernized in China in the 1950s with the invention of the electric tufting gun. Although this skill has since become more widespread, China remains the undisputed leader in mastering this technique.
This manufacturing process, expertly executed by our artisans who excel in this field, requires advanced skills to ensure the consistency and precision of each tuft. The fabric, stretched over a frame, becomes like a blank canvas, inviting the free expression of creative gestures.
Our hand-tufted rugs showcase a wide variety of patterns and offer limitless texture effects, thanks to the versatility of this technique.
We use a broad selection of yarns, such as wool (worsted, semi-worsted, felted, etc.), cotton, silk, sisal, cotton shoelace, and technical fibers, which allow us to create looped or cut-pile textures of varying heights with incredible richness.
In addition, a remarkable range of hand-finished details, such as trimming, carving, and sculpting, enhance the surface treatments and create exceptional, unique relief effects.

HAND-WOVEN RUGS
The art of rug weaving in India dates back several centuries, reflecting influences from various cultures, including Persian, Mughal, and the traditions of different regions of India. Our rugs are woven using traditional techniques on low-warp (horizontal) handlooms. Each piece is unique, bearing witness to an unparalleled heritage and craftsmanship.
We work with different types of looms, allowing us the flexibility to create a rich and diverse range of patterns. The width of our looms varies depending on the type of loom and weaving technique used, ranging from 3 meters to 4.60 meters.
With precise craftsmanship, our hand-woven rugs offer a variety of textures and patterns, thanks to the specific looms selected and the materials used. The different effects achieved come from the skillful interplay of warp threads (longitudinal threads) and weft threads (transverse threads). This resembles flat-weaving but can also produce looped or cut-pile surfaces.
As with our hand-knotted rugs, our woven rugs are made with various types of yarns, such as wool – worsted, semi-worsted, felted, Mohair, Alpaca, Cashmere, Ghazni – cotton, linen, jute, silk, viscose, recycled fibers, or materials suited for outdoor use.
An expression of diverse cultures, our hand-woven rugs, crafted by experienced artisans, come to life through various techniques where the warp and weft can serve as the background, the motif, or both, depending on the design.

FLAT WEAVE RUGS
The rugs known as “flat-weave” in Portugal represent a deeply rooted artisanal tradition in Portuguese culture.
These unique pieces, which combine beauty, functionality, and history, are a true symbol of the country’s artistic heritage. The art of rug weaving in Portugal dates back to the 16th century, when Oriental weaving techniques were introduced by sailors and traders.
Produced in Portugal on low-warp (horizontal) looms, our flat-woven rugs are crafted using various materials such as raffia, wool, jute, cotton, leather, and even fibers for outdoor use.
The finish of these rugs generally offers no relief, hence the name “flat-woven.” The patterns, often repetitive and geometric in nature, can be worked in different scales.
Our looms provide a maximum width of 4.00 meters. Larger widths can be achieved by hand-sewing the sections together.
Each piece is unique and tells a story that reflects the craftsmanship of the artisans and the richness of Portuguese traditions. The weaving workshop is often a place for passing down skills and culture, where artisans share their techniques with the younger generations.
